As the revolution is snowballed among the Libyan people, the Gaddafi regime employed mercenaries to fight back the revolutionaries.
This ended up with bloody fate for thousands of the population in various cities including Misratah. The mercenaries targeted the militants with heavy artillery while the people had light weapons, which were unable to retaliate.
