Rules? No longer apply....

The Democrats are looking to end the filibuster in this next congressional session.  Given that the Republicans have used the filibuster to ward off legislation this congressional session, the Dems want to eliminate it: http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/12/report-reid-devising-a-plan-for-filibuster-reform.php

While we might look to the rules and procedures of congress as a safeguard against dishonesty, they are only the last resort.  In a democratic form of government, anything can be undone by popular vote.  Which is why the most critical guard against corruption is honest leaders and an informed public.  Guess they got rid of the first two obstacles, now for the third one - procedures - and then the work of destruction and dismantling safeguards and forming a new government can begin.
