Libyan forces and rebels fight over mountain town

on Jul 14, 2011

Libya's opposition fighters said they have retaken the town of Qwalish in the western Nafusa Mountains, which they lost to Gaddafi forces the day before.

Rebels are using a homemade missile launcher - coupled with missiles seized from a Government arms dump - to attempt to stop the advance of the Libyan leader's troops.

No civilians currently live in Qwalish, but both sides of the conflict continue to fight for the area, as the road leads from the mountains and directly towards Tripoli.
