It's only okay when DEMOCRATS do it.....

Filibuster.  The preferred tool of obstruction of a minority opposed to a majority vote in the US Senate.

Seen "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and you know the filibuster is a potent tool for the minority.

HOWEVER - the democrats were all for it under George Bush when they were in the minority in the Senate and it was discussed about abolishing it - and they were outraged and it was decided that it was an important tool for legislation to have.   Now that the republicans can use it - they want to end it: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/12/07/senate-dems-push-filibuster-reform/

The whole point is - we have FIFTY states.  FOUR HUNDRED THIRTY NINE congressional districts.  Over 300 MILLION people.

Do you REALLY want an entire country being dragged along when a party uses political maneuvering (notice I didn't say "wins") to obtain 50.01% of the vote leaving the other 49.99% powerless to stop it?

The entire purpose of the federalist system and of the Senate & House rules is to SLOW progress so that unanimity is required and that a nation doesn't progress at the expense of other members.

I remember Barbara Boxer (You people in California are idiots for voting for her - you know that?  Cut it out or I'm going to dig a ditch between Oregon and California and give you over to Mexico!) screaming how the purpose of the parties was to provide a system of checks and balances (um...."F" in American Civics Senator Boxer) and how having one party control all three branches destroyed the purpose of our government system - until they are in charge. Now they want to eliminate anything that would allow Republicans from getting an upper hand again.

Well - you got to do what you got to do to make your side win.  But I'm afraid the Republicans aren't going to restore honor to our country by playing nice with the communists...I mean...democrats.  I think the democrats....actually I know....the democrats and the stupidity of the American people are going to be the downfall of our country.
