A New Sherrif In Town - 10th Amendment Upheld!

Sent to me by Arlin...

Apparently the Sheriff is the highest authority in any county in a state.  Makes sense because he's an elected official accountable to the people - unlike a police department which is essentially an unauthorized but de-facto militia on U.S. soil.

Anyways, here's an article from Wyoming where the Sheriffs are flexing their muscles and making sure the feds obey the law: http://earthhopenetwork.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=527

Makes sense though - this is the entire point of federalism - to break up the powers that be and separate them so we don't have an abuse of power from the top.  I recently received a letter from Sheriff Scott Gordon of Washington County asking for my signature for him to take to court to stop the list of concealed handgun licensees from being made public.  He didn't want to release them.  Some people thought they needed to know who they were.   Um....hey - 10 watt!  That's the POINT of being concealed!  NOBODY KNOWS!  You are responsible and protected and nobody is bothered by it.  He didn't release the info - some idiot activist groups here in Oregon wanted all the info released but others argued that would put people who  AREN'T concealed carriers at risk.

Anyways - interesting article.   Way to go Wyoming!
